Hey friend(s)! My name is Janette (pronounced juh-net), and my pronouns are she/her(s). I’m a Stage Manager from Las Vegas, Nevada, currently living in New York City. I post theatre and lifestyle content for young theatre artists.
I’ve always had a flair for the dramatic! Some of my favorite childhood memories involve watching film adaptions of Broadway musicals. Something about it always fascinated me, and I used to sit through the final credits reflecting on how cool it would be to work behind the scenes in the entertainment industry.
Flash forward twenty years and I’m finally working in the entertainment industry! Hands down my favorite part of the job is connecting with other creatives. We come from so many different backgrounds and have a myriad of approaches, opinions, and emotional backstage stories. As is such in life, none of our experiences are exactly the same, but we still have more similarities than differences. The connection artists make is a beautiful force to be reckoned with!
This blog will serve as a grounds for fellowship and community with other young theatre professionals. I also intend for my little slice of the internet to be a beacon of light for other young black women in leadership roles. We’re out here being our fully authentic selves, & we’re succeeding!
When I’m not standing in the wings, I enjoy shooting portrait photography. My past work can be found here. I also love reading, traveling, and visiting museums. I’m a fan of attending music festivals and concerts, too! And I throughly enjoy discovering new meals to cook or restaurants/cafes to try.
I’m excited for us to create this community together! If you’d like to chat, ask for advice, or work together on a project, feel free to send me an email by clicking here.
