Review: I cried while reading this. I have never cried while reading a book, but this one got me! The way Kennedy Ryan describes love- love of self, familial love, platonic love, romantic love, love of career- was nothing short of amazing. Kennedy not only continues to prove that she understands women, but that she also understands people, that she understands the human condition. There are so many gut wrenching quotes & descriptions of love and community in this. There’s some profound statements on grief and loss and rebirth, too.
The romance element made me feel like a blushing schoolgirl, it was so cute! I loved seeing Judah as a father & co-parent. His patience with Soledad mirrors the patience he has with his kids. His friendship with his ex-wife was refreshing. Watching him constantly show Soledad support, even when he assumed she’d never know he was supporting her, made my heart fuzzy & warm. I loved everything about him.
I think it’s safe to say that Kennedy Ryan’s writing continues to leave an impact on me. She’s so special, and the way she writes stories that cover a range of emotion and adult themes is masterful. That’s the makings of an auto buy author for me! Automatic 5 star as soon as I read the last page.
